New Hampshire Birth Records: Discover Your Loved One's True Identity

Birth records are considered part of a state and local government's vital records database, stored for the public to freely examine and use for their own research and information. These records often include copies of official birth certificates, which will provide you with the following information:

  • Date and place of birth
  • Full birth name
  • Full names of parents and their personal identifying information

Ever since the earlier years, it was already the town clerks' responsibility to keep vital records of births in the state of New Hampshire. Until today, the state's town clerks are still responsible in maintaining such significant documents and sending them to the Bureau of Vital Records. This statewide birth registration compilation, however, only started in 1866 and was completely accomplished after 14 years. The bureau was only established in 1905, but it stores birth records that date back to as early as 1640. If you need to obtain birth records up to the present, you may communicate with the Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics of the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services. The new Vital Records Automated software, however, can produce birth records from 1988 in any city within the state. You must, of course, be qualified to obtain certified copies of birth certificates by showing proof that you are the person named on the certificate or you are an immediate family member or legal representative. In addition to this, you must also present a valid photo ID, such as a driver's license or a passport, alonng with a completed application form and a non-refundable standard fee of $12, which  may be paid via money order of personal check made payable to the Treasurer, State of New Hampshire.
