Missouri Birth Records: Discover Your Loved One's True Identity

Birth records are considered part of a state and local government's vital records database, stored for the public to freely examine and use for their own research and information. These records often include copies of official birth certificates, which will provide you with the following information:

  • Date and place of birth
  • Full birth name
  • Full names of parents and their personal identifying information

Though Missouri started its statewide vital recording of vital events, such as births and deaths, in 1911, one of its cities, St. Louis, was able to keep earlier records that date back to as early as 1870. St. Louis City, however, only achieved about 60 per cent of compliance from its residents. If you wish to obtain certified copies of birth certificates from August 1909 up to the present, you may consult with the Bureau of Vital Records of the Department of Health and Senior Services. However, before you could obtain such restricted documents, your name should first appear on the record, or you must be an immediate family member either by blood or marriage, or a legal representative, who can present a court order. Subsequently, you must prepare a non-refundable standard fee of $15, while you may also opt to obtain additional copies of the same requested record for another $15 each. These payment can be paid via other methods, such as personal check or money order made payable to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. If you avail of their mailing or phone service, you may be able to receive your document after 4 weeks of processing. You have to keep in mind though to never send cash via mail. Furthermore, you may process your documents online for a faster and more convenient transaction.
