The state of Idaho has kept their vital records, like birth certificates, as early as 1907. In July 1911, a statewide vital recording was finally mandated by the state of Idaho. If you want to request birth records before 1911, you may write to the County Recorder of the county, while you may contact the Vital Records Unit of the Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics for birth certificates that occurred after 1911. These significant documents are, however, not considered as public records and therefore should only be limited to those who show direct and tangible interest in the birth certificate. This will include people whose name appears on the record or those who can show proof that they are an immediate family member or a legal representative. While you can personally visit your the state office for requests of certified copies of birth certificates. You can print the application form on the their web site and fill up all the required information together with your signature. Applications should also be notarized so that the office will continue processing it. Furthermore, you must submit a copy of valid government-issued photo ID, such as driver's license or passport. If you do not possess any photo ID, you may submit a copy of two other forms of identification which shows your name, signature and mailing address. You may pay via money order or personal check made payable to Idaho Vital Statistics.
